Battle of the Momagers
The Kardashians/Jenners are always in the headlines for their celebrity antics, but this time Kris Jenner is making news for a different reason. Just 2 weeks ago, Jenner Communications Inc. applied for U.S. trademark registration for the mark MOMAGER in class 41 for “Entertainment services, namely, providing information in the fields of entertainment and pop culture” on a 1(b) basis, meaning the mark is not yet in use.
This is not the first MOMAGER trademark for her, as Jenner Communications already has a registration since 2011 for “Personal management services for celebrities” in class 35.
What is interesting is that since the first MOMAGER trademark in class 35 registered, another MOMAGER mark was filed by a seemingly unrelated entity called Momanger LLC in class 41 for “Entertainment services, namely, providing on-going webisodes featuring a reality-based program via a global computer network; entertainment services in the nature of an on-going reality-based television program” and was registered last month, April 2015.
On first glance Jenner’s newly filed application in class 41 mark appears to be conflicting with Momanger LLC’s registered mark in class 41, as both marks are in class 41 for types of entertainment services. Perhaps Jenner will file a cancellation proceeding against the prior MOMAGER – this would probably be the only way to get the new mark through. Stay tuned for further updates as the application progresses!
