Kylie clash sees back-down
The Trademarkroom recently reported on a trade mark clash between two of the most well-known Kylies’ in the entertainment business.
Kylie Jenner, rising star and sister to the Kardashian clan, filed a trade mark application in the US last year for ‘Kylie’.
Shortly after this, Kylie Minogue, pop superstar, filed an opposition deeming the mark too similar to those already registered by Minogue.
In an attempt to solve this outside of court, Jenner stayed her application to allow settlement proceedings to take place.
However, Minogue was not satisfied with this and her representative company, KDB filed two motions to reconvene the proceedings which they hoped would prevent the mark being registered.
While it seemed that the dispute was coming to a head, Minogue withdrew her application to prevent the mark being registered.
The reasons for this are yet unknown but it seems that Kylie Jenner has come up on top in this trade mark battle.
The ‘Kylie’ mark should subsequently be registered in the US.
