In a step to protect this brand, she has filed a trade mark claim against her father and his business partner.

Not only is Rihanna a pop superstar but she has also made her stamp in many other industries with her Fenty brand.

Mainly focussing on beauty, she has created a brand which is now a must have for many.

In a step to protect this brand, she has filed a trade mark claim against her father and his business partner.

She alleges that her father Ronald Fenty’s company Fenty Entertainment has misled the public by claiming to be affiliated with Rihanna and her Fenty brand.

It is claimed that the pair have used the Fenty trade mark in making a false promise that Rihanna will be at certain events and performing in certain locations, soliciting millions of dollars from the public.

In addition, the press release for their business previously made direct reference that Rihanna was a part of the business and authorised them to use the brand.

The claim makes clear that Fenty and Perkins have never been authorised to use Rihanna’s name or IP.

After numerous cease and desist letters were unanswered, the claim filed this week was the only possible next step.

Triple damages and an injunction have been claimed and it will be interesting to see how this one pans out.
