Trademark registration

If you are unfamiliar with the trade mark registration process then it can seem quite a daunting prospect; it needn't be. You could navigate the process yourself but like with most things in life- do you have the time?

A specialist company can wade through the red tape in no time and explain the proceedure to you. If you have a new busines name, product or service that needs protection, you may not be sure of which type of intellectual property you need.

A trade mark will protect your name (brand) and prevent others from using it without your permission. Copyright protects the content of say your work manual that you may have written yourself. A registered design protects the look and feel of your product, for example the shape of a new phone and a patent will protect how it acutally works.

Most well known brands will have a registered trademark i.e. 'coca cola', this will prevent others from using the term coca cola or a similar term that may cause confusion to the public e.g cola coke.  Trade mark registration is an invaluble tool for any successful business. So if your brand is capable of regsitration ( this can be established by ordering a trade mark search) it is strongly recommended that you apply for a trade mark which you can then, sell or license as you please.
