What are the benefits of having a registered trademark?

If you have a business name then you have a trademark. If your trademark complies with Trademark Law then you should protect it- if you don’t a third party might!

Your business may be at risk if someone else claims ownership to your brand. A registered trademark allows you to prevent third parties from using your brand without your consent and benefitting from your hard work. With a registered trademark you can legally take action against others you are damaging your business by using your brand or your logo or slogan

If at some point you may wish to sell your business and any buyer will want to know that you do actually own your brand and that you have taken steps to legally secure your trademark.

Main reasons to register a trademark making your brand a marketable commodity

  1. You will become the legal owner of your brand and will have a monopoly over it for the goods and services claimed. It’s cheaper than having to re-brand!
  2. You will build up a reputation making your brand a marketable commodity which you can sell
  3. Protect your brand against competition- protect it before someone else applies for a trademark application
