Brands unite to fight piracy
In a bid to put an end to the ever growing problem of online piracy, many of the best known entertainment brands from across the world have combined forces.
Announced on 13th June 2017, a coalition of brands is to be formed, known as the Alliance for Creativity.
Part of this alliance are brands such as the BBC, Amazon, Netflix and Warner Bros Entertainment.
With the use of entertainment material changing, with everything moving online, the rise in counterfeiting and piracy of digital content has increased dramatically.
There are now more than 480 online services in which worldwide users can access TV and films legally whenever they choose. This level of immediate access and growing need for everything to be available this way has opened the doors for counterfeiters to undercut the legitimate sources and stray consumers into accessing illegal material.
This increase in counterfeit material activity has a detrimental effect of the legitimate entertainment industry.
Therefore in a bid to tackle this, the Alliance for Creativity will, using the resources of the Motion Picture Association of America, action litigation proceedings against counterfeiters, pursue agreements and create relationships with existing organisations in a bid to reduce piracy and its effects.
As this is such a new thing, who knows its effects but any effort to reduce the use of illegal content and any support for legitimate sources of content, gets The Trademarkroom’s support.
