Word has come from the UK Intellectual Property Office that there have been yet more reports of IP based scams.

There have been a number of reports stating that trade mark owners have been receiving call from an organisation claiming to be the ‘Trade Marks Intellectual Property Office’.

During these calls, the scammers have been pushing people to buy domain names. These are not genuine domain names.

Their aim is to scare people into buying these domains by threatening an effect on their business and their trade marks.

This is not a genuine organisation or call. Please do not fall for this scam.

A copy of the follow up invoices that many have been sent can be found on the UK IPO website.

If you receive these calls or correspondence, please contact the UK IPO and The Trademarkroom who can make sure you will not be affected by these scammers.
