#trademarks on the up

As previously predicted by The Trademarkroom, # trade marks have become a popular choice for many businesses causing a leap in their registration in 2016.

This information has come from CompuMark, who are a trade mark research company.

Around the world, the leap in hashtag trade mark registration was 64%, highlighting its fast found popularity.

The winner in the most registration of hashtag marks were of course the US, in which 33% of all # applications were made since the first in 2010.

Surprisingly, following the US in the hashtag registration leader board were Brazil with 226 applications in 2016 and India with 141 applications.

With the UK not in the top spots of the leader board, it hightlights that the hashtag trade mark boom is yet to explode here.
